Despite it being summer now, the weather has been rather changeable of late in Cumbria. But today, finally, the rain left us and glorious sunshine bathed the land.
Lisabet and I became backyard tourists for the day, visiting Brantwood: the home of writer, artist, and social philanthropist John Ruskin, who lived here from 1872 until his death in 1900. I can see why he came here for his final years: the views, location, and abundant flora are just astonishing.
